Bonjour France (April 26)

We spent much of the day traveling by train to Nice, France. Here is Claire waiting for the train -- note that these are the only 2 bags we brought for our 16 days abroad.

En route to Nice, we had the great fortune to share our train compartment with four hilarious Italians. Diego and his wife are older and had spent time living in California, Moscow, and Spain. Stephan and his girlfriend are around our age and are both lawyers in Milan. We spent hours chatting, joking, and laughing – to the point at which a fellow traveler requested that we shut the door to our compartment. Stephan, a criminal defense attorney, told us that he has only two clients and then asked out advice about buying a yacht in America (hmmmm...). Our new friends made this train journey a highlight. Upon arriving in Nice, we walked around the old town and the boardwalk by the sea. Nice is a charming seaside town full of brasseries and pedestrian-only streets. We had an early dinner at an outdoor bistro and called it a day.
